Spectral Souls: Review

Over the years, smartphones have essentially changed how the traditional gaming on handhelds work. Most people carry smartphones more than other gadgets, I mean why would you carry around multiple devices when one can do it all?

Unfortunately, the complexity of the traditional games we've played before haven't totally been captured by the mobile game developers and we're stuck with simple, mid-range or bite-sized games. And today, Spectral Souls is hoping to capture that complexity and break the ice once and for all.

Spectral Souls is a tactical RPG that focuses on the war between humans and demons. One thing unique about this game is that you get to play both sides of the army and not just the typical one-sided game. You'll be seeing a button to see the historical events where you can choose a side and influence the timeline of the events.

Other than those, the gameplay is still the same. Leveling up, killing for experience, and buying items. Still, there's something unique about the item system. You can upgrade or even inventing items and spells at the workshops inside towns. There isn't a wiki for recipes as far as I know but with a bit of curiosity and some experimenting, you could end up having some weapons and armors with rare powers. You can also register these items so they could be sold on shops across towns provided that the one you're holding would be gone.

There's also this combo system that allows you to gang in on the target and pull of some extreme attacks. The combat system is designed to be played through combos and once you get the hang of it, you'll be slicing and dicing through your enemies in a flash. While this is a tactical game, we'll still be having those battle conditions at the start of the game in which you have to strive for.

Paying for a game isn't my thing unless it's good but this one is worth every penny. Over all, this is a pretty nifty game for tactical game lovers. Kudos to the developers! And if you loved playing Final Fantasy Tactics then this game is for you!
